These are projects that I’ve worked on over the past few years and fall in to different categories
One such category I’ve mentioned a few times on this site, but have yet to explain to anyone who doesn’t know, is Amigurumi
Originally of Japanese origin, this style of crochet has taken off over the past couple of decades with thanks to a growing online community for makers and crafters. Usually in the form of an animal, or an inanimate object which has been made to be personified, these tend to have a more cute look, however there are examples where more realistic results have been achieved
This section will cover some of amigurumi projects I’ve made as well as other styles of crochet projects

The first amigurumi project I attempted after finishing the Frontline Hero Bears and a project I started working on at the beginning of my Twitch career
I was working on the body for this on the night I hit all the goals I needed to progress to being a Twitch Affiliate and as a result, she was officially christened “Hetty the Affiliate Yetti”
She has now become a mascot for the stream and I even went on to make a smaller version of her as a thank you gift that could be won by a member of my community. Her little sister was named “Netty”

This was a commissioned piece. I’d been asked if I could possibly make a sloth for someone’s sister as a gift
I’d been sent details of another pattern by the same creators who made this one and when I found it I knew that was the one I needed to make
The techniques used to make this project really pushed my limits of what I was capable of but the end result was 100% worth all the hard work and when the sloth finally made it to it’s new forever home it was loved by the person it was a gift for
Would I make another? Probably not. Am I sure? ….. No comment

Not something I ever thought I would be making, but something I am extremely attached to and there is nice story behind it
As lockdowns and working from home because more of a way of living for us, I found myself looking for Twitch streamers who were also in to making and crafting to have in the background while I was working
One day, I came across a stream from Australia where the streamer was crocheting this exact pattern, and the whole environment of their stream was one I definitely felt resonated well with me
The streamer and I have since become extremely good friends despite the fact we live a world apart and last year they gifted me the yarn used in this project. It was the same colours they had used when they made it
So when the time came to start making something with the yarn, I had no hesitation in making the same shawl as they did
Now we both have the same shawl, in the same colours

A selection of different projects here. The first being something I wanted to try to challenge myself and to try making something in finer yarn (something I’d not done before this point)
Working on this project sparked a love for another crochet designer. I’ve got quite a few of her patterns in my “I want to make this” list. All that’s missing is the time to sit down and make them
The two Junimo from Stardew Valley were made with yarn left over from the Rainbows Through The Storm blanket. My plan is to make as many as I can using all of the leftover colours, but again it’s something I’ve not had the time to do yet
The last picture in this second was the result of a pattern test for another Twitch Streamer. Named Meringue the owl, we had two choices of colours to make it in, either to represent a Lemon Meringue pie or a Key-Lime Pie. Based on the colours I had available, I went with the Key-Lime option
It was a really easy pattern to follow, very well written and definitely one I’ve considered trying again since
But, it did also make me realise that I’d made ALL of the bears with the wrong type of yarn so I also learned something from the process

Probably the first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions crochet. The sort of thing you would have expected to see on your grandmother’s table or sideboard
Definitely not for the faint of heart, these designs take a lot of time (and patience) to make
The first picture was my first attempt at making something that was more traditional. However, they are also more forgiving of mistakes than some of the other patterns
The next two were quick projects I decided to work on in the run-up to Christmas 2021. Looking for something a bit different to do, having just finished the doily pattern, these were certainly a challenge to do but the end results were definitely worth it
The final two pictures, were a special commission for my Grandmother to gift to my Great-Aunt
She had been searching for years for nice chairback covers but with little/no success. I’d even searched for crochet patterns and couldn’t find any
They just weren’t in fashion anymore
So when I’d finished the Silverlace Blanket and my gran saw it, she mentioned it again
Putting together a couple of different designs, I managed to come up with something that she was happy with and got to work making 5 of them
They took a couple of months but in the end she was very happy with the results. And so was I. However, if I never saw another popcorn stitch (the little raised stitches that make up the main part of the leaves around the flower) it would be too soon

A real selection of different things I’ve tried
The first three pictures are made using yarn I’d picked up because it “was a good deal” and had never used. Made with 100% cotton, these make really nice face cloths and wash up really nicely. Haven’t made too many of them as they take a little while to make, but aren’t that complicated
The next, the Sakura Face Scrubbies, are probably the favourite I’ve made in this category. They were really quick to make up, excellent yarn busters, and look so pretty. Another product I made for the Craft Fair that never was
I was limited to how many I could make based on the amount of white cotton I had, so from the leftover pink and green I found this really simple coaster pattern and was able to make a couple of sets
The final picture in this set, was something I made as a bit of a novelty item for another Twitch Streamer. This time a music streamer.
They had a little golden egg shaker that they used to use when laying down the loops for the songs they played on stream. But it was forever falling of their desk. So they asked the community to come up with suggestions for a new home for the egg
That evening I dug out some yarn, found a pattern and got to work.
It took me all evening, but was totally worth it. The legs were interesting to make for sure
When it eventually arrived, they loved it and it has pride of place on their desk. And the egg no longer rolls away so it was a win-win situation
